Letter : Washington, D.C., to B. G. Jayne, Undercliffe, Colo., 1887 Feb 4.

TLS concerning litigation relating to transfers of land held by Eugene Leitensdorfer located in the Las Animas Land Grant, Las Animas County, Colorado. The letter refers to an enclosed copy of a deed, which is not present, transferring ownership of a portion of Leitensdorfer's land to S. M. Baird. Barrett directs Jayne to appraise land not included in this transfer, located near Trinidad, Colorado, and obtain affidavits concerning its value. Barrett also refers to a transfer made by Baird to William Blackmore and directs Jayne to obtain information from George W. Thompson. Enclosed with the letter is a list of land transfers made by Leitensdorfer, 1858-1872, with annotations by Barrett, typescript.
